The Pressure Washer: Your Greatest Ally for Outdoor Spring Cleaning

Pressure WasherSpring is right around the corner, which means it’s time to start thinking about your spring cleanup checklist. Why not start outside? You’ll be enjoying the warmer weather in your outdoor space soon enough, so you should make sure it looks its best. The easiest and fastest way to do that is by using a pressure washer, your greatest ally for outdoor spring cleaning.

The best place to start is your fencing. You may be surprised after a quick pressure wash how much grease, grime and grass bad been building up on your fencing over the years! Whether you have wood fencing or a more durable vinyl fence, a pressure washer can do a quick job of making it look like new again. Start at the top and work your way down, angling the spray toward the grass and slightly away from the post that you just finished. Just make sure no one is standing behind the fence, because the spray will be intense.

Next, check out the state of your siding or brick. Is it looking a little dingy? It’s nothing a quick pressure wash can’t cure! Again, start at the top and work in sections, making sure to spray at a slight angle away from clean siding. Be careful of spaces around windows – a concentrated jet of water could be just the force required to breach a weak spot that’s prone to leaking.

Your garage door may also need a bit of TLC. Use the same method of starting at the top and working in sections. If your door has a lot of grease on it, you may also want to consider renting a pressure washer that comes with a soap dispenser. Rotate the nozzle one way to use the stream with soap spray, and then the other to rinse off the soap.

You can even use a pressure washer to get rid of unwanted nests and spider webs that are clinging to your home in little nooks and crannies. Blasting away the mess with a stream of water is better than having to climb up there with a broom! You can use the pressure washer on your deck, patio, car even your lawnmower, as well – the potential uses are endless.

Remember that when you’re using a pressure washer, all you need is one sweep over an area to remove the dirt and grime, and even though it’s water, getting hit with a stream from a pressure washer can be harmful, so make sure to take safety precautions, including wearing eyeglasses or goggles and gloves.
